Three Months Across Japan, Bali and Australia

My favourite ten photos, filtered down from ten thousand, from my recent trip across central Japan, Bali and eastern Australia.

At the beginning of this year I returned from a three-month trip across central Japan, Bali and eastern Australia; a trip from which I’ve created many fantastic memories visiting wondrous sites. Though I do find it funny that despite so much time, energy and expense the map below is hardly covered, as if little of the world had really been seen; the thirteen-hour coach trip from Airlie Beach to Hervey Bay, for example, looks meager.

Map of the world with travel routes

Over this time I accumulated some ten thousand photos that I’ve since filtered to just a couple hundred that are emblematic of the whole—I can then review them more easily in years to come. The following photos, a small selection of this refined collection, are perhaps among the best photos I will ever take. That’s not to say I don’t expect to get better, but that I’m very happy with them.

A couple fishing from a small boat in front of cloudy mountains
Busy street with dozens of cables overhead
Large red pagoda

Bali

Vibrant cyan waters creeping onto shore

Australia
